Faux Painting

So here is a posting for all of you who still have white walls in your home!!! Yeah I am talking to you! What are you waiting for? Are you scared? Well believe me you are not the only one. My parents have lived in their house for 8 years and are now just painting their walls. They are going with a neutral tan. Let me tell you...they started with the hallway and it looks AMAZING!!!! My parents have high ceilings and now that they have paint on the walls their walls are huge!! It's because you can differentiate the ceiling from the wall! I have been bugging my mom to faux paint a few areas of their house. I finally got it done and here are the results...

I can't believe that my last post was in February!!!! WOW time goes by too fast!! I need to stop taking on so much and I need to live in the moment!! I am blessed though that I can work, I feel for all of those who are losing their jobs left and right. I also feel for those who are graduating for college and eager to find a job. Good luck! I am just hopeful that this is the rock bottom and that it doesn't get worse like everyone is saying that it will. I am keeping my focus and faith on the good Lord above and I know that He will take care of His sheep! I have been trying to take full advantage during this time when people are in need of an answer...the answer is Jesus Christ! There are people that my husband and I have been praying for and in the last couple of months those people have been receptive and they have gone with us to church!!! Praise the Lord! They have the fire lit inside of them and now they are bringing others to church with them!! So we are so excited and stoked for what is to come! But stay tuned....I won't take so long to make another posting!!

Uppercase Living

I AM SO EXCITED!!!! Uppercase Living just came out with some new products for this year and I got my shipment today!!! There is a ton a cool stuff in the new catalog and I am stoked about it. The new product that I love is this one. All the stuff that you see in the picture comes in the kit, from the easel to the paint brush (sponge). Even though mine is a little off center and the hand prints are a little smudged....I love it!!! It was hard to do with a 2 year old and the part she liked was when I put the paint on her hands. But the finished product is PRICELESS. Uppercase Living is offering a special on this kit. When you spend $50 on an order you have the option to buy the kit for $25. This is an awesome deal because regular price is $50!! You can visit my website and look at the catalog.

Avery's Nail Salon

Yeah...you are probably thinking ***what the heck is she doing*** Avery is such a girlie girl and she loves when I paint her toe nails. So, since we are potty training that is one of the incentives when she uses the potty. Well after I finished her finger and toe nails she wanted to do mine. I picked the lightest color that I could and I gave her the brush. As you can see I still had control of the bottle. She got so into it!!! I am telling you this melted my heart and I am amazed at how much she has grown. I thank God everyday for giving me the opportunity to be a mother. This is one of the best gifts that He has given. Sometimes we take it for granted but then He always has a way of refocusing us. She was so proud and she wanted to do again and paint her Daddy's nails! Haha!! Chad did not think that it was so funny!

I Swear I Am Still Alive...

Sorry about not adding any new posts lately. I have been super busy, as I am sure you can relate. First of all I can't believe that we are already into February!!! Time is going by way too fast!! UGHHHH! I just want to warn you ahead of time....February is a going to be a busy month for me. So don't be surprised if I am unable to post a lot. I will try my hardest though. Soooo....Oh yeah....I have a member in my family that has never been garage selling! So last weekend I took her around and gave her some tricks of the trade!! She loved it and we had a great time and found some great deals!! She is trying to decorate her new home and I told her that you can do it and save lots of money at the same time. I told her to keep an open mind and everything can be painted :)!
A couple of weeks ago I went to a Goodwill with my mom and here are some of my finds...
1) Flowers that I will use in Avery's new room. They went from a periwinkle color to cream!! I can't wait to use them.
2) NOTE: I DID NOT GET THESE AT GOODWILL. These are something that I paid full price for at Holland Boone. I wanted them and I never thought that I would ever find something like this at a garage sale or goodwill. They cost me $60.00 and that was with a coupon!!! WELLL...
3)These are goodwill finds!!! Notice the glass jars with the silver tops...YEAH I KNOW!! I about fell to the floor when I saw these!! And get this...the big one was $3.99 and the smaller one was $2.99-OMG!!! The other things were a towel rack for our toy hauler. I needed something to hold my hand towels in the bathroom. The other things are a ceramic strainer...I didn't know they made them ceramic. The glass bowl I am going to use for fresh flower arrangements.
4) Okay, I seriously need to stop buying stuff full price...I bought my daughter a cute table and chairs set that matches her play kitchen during Christmas and I paid $50 for it!!! Low and behold at goodwill this set was $7.99!!!! Yeah, tell me about it!! Let me tell you how DIRTY this set was though. I looked past the dirt and knew that a yellow/green sponge, some soft scrub with bleach, and some elbow grease would do the trick!! I took it home and cleaned it that night...it looks brand new!!! You are probably thinking-what the heck is she going to do with another set?! Well I figured that I would use it when we go camping so that Avery and her friends would have a perfect little persons table!! For the price I paid- who cares!!!

6 RN's + 8 Kids + Phoenix Zoo= A great time!!!!

Today a group of moms that I work with got together and met at the Phoenix Zoo!!! We had a great time! I have not been to the Phoenix Zoo in ages!!! My has it changed!! Well I am officially a member of the zoo and I got a year pass. I am glad that we did that because we did not have time to see all of the animals! The first picture is all of the cute little butts looking at the elephants!! I love this picture.

The picture above is all of the kids that went except for one, where's Trey? It was hard to get them all to cooperate but 5 out of 7 isn't bad!

The picture above is all of the kids looking at the baboons. You know the ones that look like they need Preparation H :)

The picture below is of Avery in the tree house that they built. She loved going up and down the stairs!!

My Birthday Present from Me!

O' come on I know that you have all done it too!! Why not do your b-day shopping for yourself!! You are guaranteed to get something that you like:)! Okay I just want to let you know that I have been trying to find an end table for an entire year!! I have looked everywhere and they were either the wrong color, style, or size. I was grocery shoppin' todau at Fry's Marketplace and I just happened to stroll through the furniture area and I FOUND IT!!! I almost peed my pants with excitement!!! I was a little bummed about the price but it was on SALE! What girl can pass a sale up? Anyways it was originally $150 and I got it for $100. It is really great quality and it is heavy for a little table. But I love it!!!

Ugly Picture with Frame...transformed

So you know that ugly picture that I bought yesterday from Savers for $3.99.....

Taaaa Daaa!! I am so excited about this and it was soooo very easy!!!! I spray painted the whole thing with that chalk spray paint. I did two coats and let it dry for 12 hours. I then distressed the edges with sandpaper. I love the distress look. I attached the chalk with some ribbon on the back. I don't know if I like the ribbon or not. But I am going to get something from Uppercase Living to put on the top where I wrote "menu". And that is that!! All for under $8.00 and I still have a lot of chalk paint in the can.

On the way home we stopped at the park!! Avery was so excited, she loves to play and see the ducks. Usually we feed them but I did not have any bread on me at the time. Here are a few pics of the little monkey.
I love my days off!! So Avery and I were bored and she is my little shoppin' partner and we, ok I, decided to go thriftin' at Savers. I found sooo much stuff and I am so excited for what they may become. So the total was like $72. They had a calendar that you could buy and there is a coupon in there for each month, so January's coupon was spend over $50 and get $25 off!!! So I got every thing for $37!!! I was so excited. So I bought 7 shirts for Avery to wear to daycare because I send her in nice ones and they come back with stains that won't come out. I got that board with that stupid sayin' on it! I am going to paint that and put an Uppercase Living expression on it. The sled I got for next Christmas, I thought that it was cute. The framed picture, I am going to make into a chalkboard, with chalkboard spray paint. I will show you pictures after I complete the project tomorrow. You can't see it very well but underneath the shirts there is a baby blanket. The blanket is one of the ones that you take squares of flannel fabric and stitch them together. I call them rag quilts, one side is smooth the other side has ruffles. Anyways, it was only $2.99!! So tomorrow I have some projects that I need to do!

Here are 2 pictures of my little spitfire, Avery Ryanne Best. I cannot put into words the love that I have for her. All you mommies know what I am talking about... if you ever come up with a word or words that express this kind of love, let me know.

A New Room For Avery

Okay so I have not posted anything in a very long time but I am trying to get settled into this whole blog world... Let me tell you I am like a kid with a new piece of candy. Forget facebook this is sooooo much better. Okay so here is my next project...

I just moved my 2 year old out of her old room and into what use to be the guest room. She is now sleeping in my old canopy bed that I had when I was her age and it is a full size bed. It swallows her up but believe me she thrashes around when she sleeps so she needs it! One of my favorite things to do is to decorate a room! I am sooo excited to start out with a clean slate. The walls are white and I can do anything that I want!!

I am having a hard time deciding on a theme or color scheme. Her nursery was pink, and I mean Peptobismol pink!!! OH YEAH...the reason why we are moving her out is because we are trying for another little "best" baby. Anyways, I want something that will grow with her. I have a lot of ideas in my head that I want to include in her room. So I decided to start out with bedding, since that is one of the most important pieces in a room. Let me tell ya' kid bedding, that isn't cheesy is hard to come by!!! I searched everywhere and I stumbled upon Restoration Hardware Baby and Kid!!! OMG, OMG, OMG!!! I love this store!!

So here is the bedding that I got her... but it is a light greenish blue instead of the pink. So stay tuned and I will let you know what I am brewin' up!!
